SlowBreathe is an app which is designed to help with the HypnoBirthing Slow (or Surge) Breathing exercise.
The app helps you by counting through the iPhone/iPod speaker or headphones as you inhale and exhale. The number of breaths, length of time of the practice session and average breath duration can all be displayed.
I wrote this app to help my wife during our HypnoBirthing lessons and found it so useful, we thought we'd publish it for anyone else who might find it useful. It really is just designed for the HypnoBirthing exercise, if you are doing HypnoBirthing - you probably don't want this app.
To start a practice session, flick the switch at the top.
When you are ready to start with your first inhale, tap on the screen. You will hear the app counting.
When you have completed breathing in, tap the screen again and, according to the Slow Breathing exercise, try to breathe out for the same length of time, using the voice as a cue.
Tap the screen again to repeat.
Flick the switch again at the top to end your session.
The vibration, colour animation, breath counter, session timers and the instructions can all be enabled and disabled using the Settings app.
If you have the timer/counter on, it updates each time you finish an exhale. If both timer and counter are on, an average time is also shown.
